The New King of Judah - Chapter 11

In chapter 11, we meet a woman named athaliah. She learned that her son, ahaziah had died. Instead of mourning, she decided to retaliate and murder any relative who would have become king in his place. Atheliah attempted to dismantle the proclamation by claiming treason, but she was sought out and killed. This was one of the few instances of a female dictator in the old testament. And she ruled the land for six years. The theme that runs throughout scripture is that of the promised seed. We see this tension with cain murdering abel, pharaoh killing all the male children. And in these chapters, almost the entire line of king ahaziah the lion
