The Difference Between Systems and Non-Systems

System thinking is a way of framing things. It's not the sum of the parts, that's the system. You actually have to look at how they interact and that's the outcome. In open system activity, you don't see it as close. You see it as open. So instead of focusing on the parts and the whole, you have focused on the system and its environment. And what open system theory says is that you can't be close to it. Your organization is always exposed to the environment.
