The Neuromodulatory System Can Turn Learning on and Off in the Brains

Neurons, obviously, are things in the brains. Modulatory means to modulate, to turn things up and down or on and off. One of the things that the neuromodulatory system does is it can turn learning on and off in other parts of the brain. And what we show is that in these little tiny neural nets on very simple problems, you can actually perfectly solve cash off of forgetting if you have this neuromodulation that can turn things on and off for different tasks.
