CNN's John Sutter writes about the aftermath of a shooting in Portland, Oregon. He says people tend to exaggerate what they saw and hear when it comes to gun violence. The author spent all night looking for details on the shooter before police announced his identity. It was 12 hours before he found out who had been shot that day.
