In 186 BCE, the senate rounded up and burned books on sooth saying. Over a century and a half later, 2000 books also on divination were burned by emperor Augustus. In 181 BCE, somebody found a buried chest of books that were supposedly the work of Pythagoras. Religious works of course were also burned by opponents on all sides.
