The Centralia Massacre

legionaires considered members of the i w w, called wobbles, to be unpatriotic traitors. A gun battle ierrupted and four legionaires were dead. Some townspeople overpowered the wobbles and locked them in jail. But later that in the mob broke into the jail and seized a wabley who was also a world war one veteran. They brutally beat him, tied a rope around his neck and hanged him from a bridge. The incident became known as the centralia massacre. Meanwhile, palmer continued his efforts to rid american soil of foreign leftists and anarchists.
