Manafort and Stone had worked with this guy, Neil Acker, during the midterms. He was a replacement for Roger Stone at the head of the influential Young Republicans group. In 1979, when it came time to put up a shut up, he backed out of the deal and told Acker that now he wouldn't help unless Ackers swore loyalty to Ronald Reagan. And so Paul Manafort burned him to the ground one week before the Young Republican Convention.
