Henry Brooks and the American Clothes Industry
When the War of 1812 ended, America didn't really have a full-cloth industry just yet. The raw cotton that enslaved people were being forced to grow in the South was mostly sent to England. Henry Brooks has no idea how to make clothing; what he's very good at is paying others as little as possible to make it for him. These are the years that every decade New York doubles the size of its population.
