The Law and Wisdom in Scripture
There is abundant evidence that the Book of Proverbs was considered authoritative from earlier on. Its ordering in our canon connects it with other books that are attributed to Solomon. While the primary form of the law is a word imposed upon people from without, wisdom is arrived at through reflection upon the world. Deuteronomy 4 verses 5 to 8 gives some sense of the wisdom that will arise as people seek to understand the logic of the law.
