The Pope's Appointment of Bishop Shenbin
The official numbers of Christians in China, according to the Chinese Communist Party, is 44 million. Some estimate this much higher, perhaps more than 130 million. There are anywhere from 6 to 12 million Catholics living in China. Pope Francis approved the appointment of Bishop Shenbin to Shanghai. This comes three months after Beijing and not the Holy See appointed him.
