There's some good research on some modeling studies that are able to model the amount of compressive force being applied to a bone. The other thing is that you know muscle forces contribute to loading a bone, right it will compress a bone and even bending the bone a little bit. So that's some great science around exactly what you just shared. But I want to point out that even if someone has a history of bone stress injuries who thinks or listens to this and say well okay so if the soft surfaces lower impact I might be good for my bones maybe.
