The Knight's Chamberlain
Valaskes was an envied figure, probably because he was rather quite apart from his brilliancy. He also has tucked into his belt the key to all the doors in the palace. In this painting is not just the greatest possible painting, but it is also a portrait of him as the king's chamberlain. You are allowed to open any room. It almost feels like valaskes as painting us in some ways.
