The Passion of Love
All of these passions involve what is perceived as sensibly pleasant or painful. The erasible passions are the fighting passions and we associate them with our fight or flight response. Erasible passions depend on concupisable passion as their cause and serve them. You'll find the formal objects and description of the movement for each of the passions in the tables on your handout. We'll begin with love. For Aquinas, all of the passions begin with the passion of love. Even hatred derives from love.
