By 13 hundred, by the end of this himediaeval era, you have crusades going on not only to the holy land, but also to the northeastern fringe of europe in the baltics and the southwestern edge of spain. And all of these campaigns are all all crusades in some way. All of them are expressions of this kind of synthesis of the knightly martial ideal with the pious christian ideals taught by the church.
