The Importance of Pat Riley
"I hated anything that had to be done that was, that didn't make sense to me," he says. "My seventh grade teacher, Mr. Riley, Pat Riley, who finally held me back." He recalls being given a detention and skipping it because he forgot about it in the basement of his parents' house. The doorbell rang when David's mom went to pick him up from school; she found her son at home with no detention.
