There are two networks that are completely different in terms of their scale but they have the same motifs. The brain of these simple animals evolved to transduce information between noisy inputs and noisy components. So a lot of the information is the same basic problem even though the neurons you know are huge cells compared to familiar micron long cells or nanometer sized proteins.
