Is There a Life That She Has in Her Form?
In the Soviet Union, a kind of a puritanical moralism came into existence. A lot of workers felt they were being cheated in some way. When you speak of the positive sense of life in Western Europe in the 19th century, you've got to qualify it. That sense of life was not, by any means, universal. Otherwise it would not have produced Kierkegaard or Dostoevsky.
