The Catalonian Army

Nationalists had governed the autonymous region since the declaration of the republic in 19 31. They formed a broad left dis alliance called the escera republicana de catalonia. The troops were incredibly poorly trained conscripts with little or no combat experience and even less willingness to fight. Many troops were forced back into their barracks. Some made t as far as the telephone exchange and the hotels, ritz and colone in the middle of the city.
