The Origins of the DNA

Mitochondria themselves have some DNA of their own inside, and that is the principal means by which we now know that Lynn Margulis was right. Scientists fought this idea tooth and nail because it just seemed crazy and went against what they understood about genetics. Had she not lived at that time, or had we not come up with DNA sequencing, we never would have known that that actually happened.
