The Power and Enablement of Grace

Paul thinks of grace as that by which you are gifted differently from other people in this room and by which he was gifted as apostle. So the grace that gave him his gift and apostleship is the power and enabling through which he speaks with apostolic authority. God let Paul become a murderer and a persecutor of the Christian church so that on the Damascus road without the slightest willingness on Paul's part to submit to the Lord whom he's persecuting, Jesus would show his matchless God-like grace in saving him sovereignly.
