What Is the Difference Between a Property Tax and a Land Value Tax?

A land value tax means that you essentially pay rent to everybody, because you don't own the land. You're not getting some excess of wealth just because the land value goes up, mostly be taxed. The reason for having a land value tax is that land is immutable. If you tax it, it's not going to change anyone's behavior. It's a really efficient tax to impose when trying to raise tax surpluses.
