Is There Observer Bias?
Scientists are taught to avoid observer bias. This is why drug tests require double blind studies. You may have heard the story of coco the gorilla that knew sign language and could communicate through sign language. But when people looked at the evidence on film and tried to interpret on their own, it just didn't make sense. Now this is not to be confused with observational bias, which is a term we use in astronomy,. It's just meant that if you can't see something with your telescope, it doesn't mean it's not there.
