Scots is not an alien language to English like Gallic is, and I guess you could say the same for Cantonese and Mandarin. We're talking about kind of parallels between Scotland and China. Would you say that there Scots might be parallel to like Cantonese the way it functions in Hong Kong? It's always just an analogy. Analogies are better or worse, but they're never one for one.
