i think the anti bullying stuff is of a piece with this much larger ethos that i think probably plagues alet private schools more than it plagues public schools. We live in an age where a lot of people believe sincerely that, you know, whell violence can be mere speech, but speech can be violence. Anything that makes you physically uncomfortable, for want of an over abused word, essentially qualifies as bullying. That meanness, even unintentional meanness, and that's the key, is seen as some sort of assault. And these are the kinds of people that jonathan's talking about in coddonly american mind.
