The Asymmetry Between Reasons for Action and Reasons for Straight Off Observational Judgments
McDowell argues that something analogous is true in the case of observational judgments. He says it's absurd to suggest that a mere repetition of the judgment could give my reason for judging. McDowell: The fact exerts a rational influence over my judgment only in Safari as it is something experienced.
