Mastectomy for DCIS
DCIS is a pre-malignant lesion. The treatment for it would be lumpectomy with radiation, as well as hormonal therapy if they are hormone-receptor positive. Post-op whole breast radiation after a lumpectomy for DCIS will decrease the risk of recurrence by 50%. Though in the long-term studies, it has not shown an impact on overall survival.
