The State's Monopoly on Sandalwood

Today, there are very few sandalwood trees in the world that are that old. Most of them are being cultivated on plantations and are generally harvested by the time they reach maturity at around 30 years. By the early 20th century, the availability of sandalwood species had become extremely low. There's relatively few trees of significant age producing enough sandalwood, heartwood left to harvest.
