Introduction

Michael Kaufman is the Research Program Director in the Russia Studies Program at the Center for Naval Analysis. He's also now a new host of his own podcast, The Russia Contingency, that is available on One the Rocks. Both sides are very hampered by the winter, like let's not paint the picture that the winter doesn't negatively affect Ukrainian forces it does. But I think Ukraine is very motivated in making sure that the Russian military doesn't get a break coming out of the winter and so the Ukraine retains the initiative further on up to 2023.
