The Jersey Devil Hoax

A local fisherman claimed that he had captured or killed the demon. He showed reporters his bruises and battered arms from the encounter. Another man, norman jeffreys, was inspired by all the talk around town. So he constructed the most famous jersey devil hoax of all time. People lined up outside to see a kangaroo with fake wings and claws. Some fooled themselves into thinking it was real, but others could easily tell it was fake. 20 years later, norman admitted that the entire thing was a hoax he made up.
