Consumerism in western culture is not about selling you products based on your actual needs. It's about selling and advertising to you, it there selling you a better version of yourself. So the panic buying of the initial stage of the coronovirus its people feeling terrified. And the only thing we know how to do to cope is to consume. But ultimately, you're engaging in denial. That that's mass denial. There's a pandemic. Great. I need nine boxes of pringles and 64 bogrolls. That's denial. That's finding out that someone you love has got a tarminal illness, and you spend the first night down in three bottles of wine.
