The Aristocracy in Central Italy
The aristocracy was mobile, not tied down to any one city or even any individual part of the region. The urban populace, on the other hand, was much more tied to their cities. To be a full member of the community in a city such as Rome was to fight in its armies. Despite the linguistic and presumably ethnic divide between Etruria and Latium, the two component regions had far more in common than they did differences.
