The Rabbinical Teaching Styles
There are four basic rabbinic teaching styles, so I think they still use the same four. The first one is called shot, and that's a simple teaching where there's a literal plain meaning to the text. Then there's drash or midrash, and that is an allegorical or homiletical application. And then there's one called sud, just spelled like sod, like grass, S-O-D, but it's sud.
