The Role of Oxaloacetate in Acetyl-CoA
Oxaloacetate is going to play an important role in what happens to acetyl-CoA. In a liver, if we are deficient in oxaloacetate, then we may start building up acetyl- CoA and we need to because we can't drive this citric acid cycle or the crab cycle anymore. The way that the liver deals with excessive acetyl- coa is to repackage it into ketone bodies.
