The Risks and Benefits of Thorsentesis
The patient continued to have persistent hypoxemia and plural effusions. She's not on any anticoagulation, has normal platelets and normal collags. A team is now asking for consideration for thorsentesis. The risk of pneumothorax after a Thora is somewhere between 0.6 and 6%. And then there is always some pain associated with this procedure.
