There was a question on the podcast that wanted us to go deeper into the conversation we had last time. How do we know that the people saved, even though there may be millions of them from the suffering of Ebola might not just run into the next difficult thing in life? And I think as I read the question, what I wanted to point back to was the point of the criticism of effective altruism is not simply that people aren't doing the utilitarian math correctly. It's that the material, that the utilitarian math is insufficient.
