The Importance of Demonstration in Interpretation
Averuis Ali was critical of Al-Arazali for not being able to offer demonstrative proof. He argued that the theologian's writings misled untutored readers into believing in rishoreical symbols, which are liable to mislead them if taken at face value. Averuis says he had 'good intentions' but his criticisms were counterproductive.
