The History of CompuServe

CompuServe became the first online service to offer internet connectivity in 1989. The main feature of CompuServe throughout its life was its forums, more than 1000 moderated special interest sites catering to almost every interest and niche imaginable. Orson Scott Card published his now classic novel Ender's Game in the Delphi Sci-Fi section. Many of the characteristics and quirks of online culture that we now see in phenomena like 4chan and Reddit were gestated in the Well's influential forums.
