Carbon markets work because we're already treating carbon as a commodity. Buyers can purchase and retire credits to neutralize hard to abate omissions in an effort to reach net zero. There's a lot of work under way to develop new guyde lines on both the buyer and seller side of the markets to increase integrity and transparency.
