"I still have conversations with men where I'm surprised that things I find to be quite basic still aren't understood for example when you talked about so many women in your life having experienced abusive relationships," she says. "Internalised misogyny can then be a factor in explaining it away because whatever the threat behaviour can be can be explained away often via the lens of aggression being justifiable abuse and excusable coercive control."
