i've been noodling on a the look of global, and i mean global, forign direct investment in the twentieth century. There's a period between the mid 19 fifties and the late 19 sixties that we sometimes call the great compression. It's also the time here in the united states when income and inequality was at its lowest. And i attribute that great compression, on a global and more local scale to the kinds of anti colonial, anti racist, pro socialist and pro communist organizing happening all over the world.
