The Global South and Climate Change
When the world did get close to enacting a binding treaty on climate, the Kyoto Protocol back in 1997, it was the GCC that killed it. A lot of the talking points they crafted back then are the same ones that are being trotted out today. The global south has been used as an excuse for the global north not to act on climate. It's just opportunism as far as I'm concerned because if they were really concerned, they would have done all kinds of things you can do. If you're someone who cares about the climate, that's not something you want your money doing. And fortunately, there is a way to avoid it: You can move your money into aspiration
