Son Ra's Mythology
Like his music, Sun Ra's mythology was an expression of pan-Africanism. He believed that this project could represent the salvation of his race and all humankind. His belief in the power of art anticipated the Black Arts movement. A remarkable distillation of Ra's music and philosophy is the 1974 film Space is the Place.
