As I've learned more about philosophy, you learn that many of the problems we face today likely aren't as new as we'd like to think that they are. So for me reading Plato, reading Aristotle, reading those old philosophers, it also allows us to get questions clear that today are forbidden. They're off the table in some sense. We live in a time where you have all kinds of enforced ideological orthodoxies. What if you want to think about the alternatives? Well, first of all, Socrates thought about some alternatives.
