The Future of Neurotrophic Factors

We're still trying to figure out where we are. Some people have proposed various things like for a while, they would say, oh, the release of neurotrophic factors. They found this drug, NSI 189, very powerful hippocampal neurogenesis inducing agent and fails in clinical trials. So that's a disappointment. And so from a basic scientific research perspective, that kind of thing is valuable in terms of getting something into the clinic but you have to be pretty confident that whatever it is that you're measuring is actually associated with therapeutic efficacy. And that's hard to do.
