In the trial of george franklin, who was accused of murdering a little girl 20 years earlier. The case started to shape his scholarship on repression and psychotherapy. He wanted to find a way to study the planting and development of rich false memories. So he came up with the idea that we could make people believe they had been lost in a shopping mall for five or six minutes before being rescued by an elderly person. And it led to a whole new line of work.
