How Do Ultra Processed Foods Affect Your Hypothalamus?

In America, it's about 60% of calories coming from ultra processed foods. Here in Australia, it's 42%. UK, around 50%. So it's making up a lot of the energy that we're bringing into our body. And basically, what you're looking at is dysregulation of the hypothalamus in managing calories and in calories out. If you change the carbohydrate content of the diet, that doesn't consistently lead to overeating or help with weight loss. Protein could get you higher satiation earlier. But if you basically flip carbohydrate and fat content of diets, that doesn’t get you able to change intake as easily as the ultra processed food.
