Speaker 1
We've got tens of millions of non-white people in this country, some jabroni might think are an immigrant, and then they might think are an illegal immigrant. That's not probable cause. Have some humanity. Have some decency here. Anyway, what I think Congress has been just supine in its cowardice is that it's just, forget the dismantling and we can talk about it if you want uh you know of domestic agencies department of education usa id and all that kind of stuff put all that aside it's been supine in its institutional integrity about trump basically gutting departments of government that Congress created. Congress created those departments. They are created by statute. The vast bulk of the Republican caucus are just sort of like, either this is awesome or they're just sort of shrugging saying, you know, well, who cares? We can't get it done. So let's have them do it. The last, and one of the reasons why I find it's just so gross and appalling is these people wear their love of the Constitution on their sleeve. And yet they are using it as sort of toilet paper when it comes to anything that the MAGA base of the party wants. And they're insulting anybody who says, hey, you know, shouldn't you guys stand up for the role of Congress and all of this? And they roll their eyes and they say, Oh, you must like terrorists or you must part of the deep state or, you know, is George Soros paying you and all this sort of nonsense. It's very McCarthyite. It's very ugly. It's very irresponsible. And it's profoundly hypocritical. Are you still quoting 30 year old movies? Have you said cool beans in the past 90 days? Put all that stuff aside because look, I mean, there are things that directionally I'm still in favor of some of the things I'm in favor of a lot of things Doge wants to do. But again, I do think the process matters. And I think there are just an enormous number of babies being thrown out in the bathwater. And without congressional buy-in, a lot of this stuff won't last. But put all that stuff aside for a second. The President of the United States is claiming that he has sweeping war powers because he's designated a couple of drug cartels or drug gangs or whatever as terrorists or whatever. Members of Congress who claim, including Rand Paul and all these people, members of Congress who claim to be, Ted Cruz for freak's sake, claim to be these, you know, incorruptible guardians of constitutional hygiene, are basically high-fiving over it. It's really, really, really cowardly. I think some of them are just sort of convinced themselves, well, if it really goes over the line, the Supreme Court will stop it. And my point is there are some things that the Supreme Court just doesn't weigh in on. Maybe they will. Maybe they'll find it necessary to step up and have the backbone that Congress isn't. But if they do that, you can be sure a lot of these people say, this is unprecedented. How dare the Supreme Court weigh into this stuff? This is not what the Supreme Court is supposed to be doing. And all of a sudden, they'll learn the word justiciable and say, this is not justiciable and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
