The Demi-Brigades of the French Revolutionary Army
Carnot disbanded the old regiments, and reorganized them into demi-brigades. These two pools of soldiers would be amalgamated into mixed units. The best habits of each group rubbed off on the other. This was a big reason the French army was able to absorb the huge influx of men in 1793.
