"I was like a peer before they professionalized peer more like," he says. "Boredom is the precursor to depression, right? So it's a very uncomfortable feeling for drug addicts, but it's not exciting." He struggled mightily in his early recovery and hung out with people who were still getting high,. But I didn't get high. It took me a while. You know, you're still kind of hanging out with that anti social sort of sect because that's what you're used to.
