Stocks and bonds for most of the past few decades have had a negative correlation to each other. If interest rates do stay reasonably high, let's say above 4%, then you should expect stocks and bonds to go up, not together. There has been no diversification when that which is supposed to be your buffer is actually more volatile than what it's buffering.
